Justin joined the AmeriSpec of Central Eastern Ontario team in the spring of 2021 and has performed EnerGuide (ERS) energy evaluations on over 650 homes. He is an NRCan-registered energy advisor for existing homes, multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs), and Energy Star for New Homes (ESNH). His experience has guided homeowners through programs such as: Greener Homes (2021-24), Enbridge HER and HER+, and the Canada Greener Homes Loan Initiative.
In 2023, Justin became a Level 1 Certified Residential Thermographer (CRT). When able, he employs the use of thermal imaging technology during a home depressurisation test to diagnose and identify air leakage locations. Homeowners are provided a specialised thermal imaging report with helpful guidance on improving the airtightness of their home.
Justin has been an active member of the Canadian Association of Consulting Energy Advisors (CACEA) since 2023. CACEA promotes and supports energy advisors across the country with focus on elevating professionalism, leveraging opportunities for members, and fostering collaborative relations with stakeholders in the building and energy sectors. Justin has enrolled in numerous training endeavours through CACEA, including: air flow duct testing, National and Ontario Building Code compliance, ventilation systems, radon mitigation and testing, and heat pumps. He is certified to perform CSA F280 Whole-house design heat loss and gain calulations for HVAC equipment sizing.
Also in 2023, he successfully completed the AmeriSpec Home Inspector Training Academy as well as the online Carson Dunlop Home Inspection Training program.
Justin grew up in south-west Ottawa and has lived in Peterborough since 2017. Outside of work, he focuses on health, exercise, improvisation performance and comedy, and personal development. He has an academic background in engineering (B.Eng, Carleton University) and environmental science (M.Sc, Trent University) with research on long-term old-growth forest soils.
